Position
Summary:
Reporting to the Poultry Department Supervisor, the Poultry Cutter uses hand tools to perform routine cutting and trimming of meat in accordance with daily customer orders and company guidelines.
Duties/Responsibilities
Uses knives, cleavers, meat saws, band saws or other equipment to perform meat cutting and trimming
Trims fat, skin, tendons, tissues, and ragged edges from poultry cuts such as breasts, wings, etc.
Cleans and trims meat and fat from bones; places trimmings and bones in corresponding containers
Removes parts, such as skin or bones from carcass
Inspects meat products for defects, bruises or blemishes and removes them along with any excess fat
May weigh and tag meats and containers for weight and contents
Maintains high commitment to high quality food production
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must comprehend simple instructions and ask questions to clarify when needed
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
Able to identify when something is wrong or likely to go wrong and able to communicate situation to supervisor
Able to keep hand and arm steady while moving arm or while holding arm and hand in one position
Able to quickly move hand, hand and arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
Able to multi task with highest degree of accuracy and sense of urgency
Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time in a warehouse/production environment where the temperature is as low as 32 degrees Fahrenheit for minimum of 8 hours
Able to
reach, lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
